Project-specific Training

GIS Project-Specific Training is designed for participants working on projects with specific goals and problems. Participants will learn how GIS can be used to analyse and solve various spatial quandaries related to their field of study, work or operations. Participants may already have GIS training and wish to engage in a refresher session, or develop advanced GIS skills. Individuals with no prior GIS training may also use this training.

 The participant, at the end of the course, will receive a certificate of participation conditional upon completion of all practicals and satisfactory coursework.

Registration

Class modules are customized according to the client’s schedule. Each training session lasts for 3 hours, with typically no more than 2 training sessions held per day.

Rates are customized according to the client’s finalized set of course modules. UWI students and staff receive 15% discount and this rate is further reduced if a group of 5 registers. Flexible payment plans are available - conditions apply.

Project-Specific courses are scheduled by appointment. Courses are created for groups of at least 5 participants.

Participants will need:

  • A Jump Drive (128 MB or greater).
  • A small notebook with pen or pencil.
  • An active e-mail account.

Manuals and work stations are provided at the Institute for on-site training.

GIS PROJECT-SPECIFIC TRAINING MAY BE CUSTOMIZED FOR USE IN , BUT NOT LIMITED TO,THE FOLLOWING FIELDS:

1)     Business, for e.g. Marketing, Financing, Distribution, Asset and Risk Management.

2)     Academic, for e.g. Built Environment, Natural Environment, Human and Social, Economic, Medical, Applied Sciences, Life Sciences.

3)     Operations, for e.g. Networking, Mobile GPS, Logistics.
